2017 favourites between Bristol and Pamplona

Ah, I couldn’t miss this classic post! As a mum, Spanish teacher and global citizen 😀

It’s been such a crazy, intense and overloaded year that I needed to publish my favourite things to do, eat, watch, drink, experience and read in Bristol and Pamplona.

We didn’t sleep a lot this year as my baby Aiden Víctor was born in January…so we had time to watch Netflix and listen some audio books during the night feeds.

Ah, no podia perderme este clásico. Como madre, profe de español y ciudadana del mundo 😀

Este año ha sido una locura, intenso y sobrecargado, necesitaba publicar mis cosas favoritas para hacer, comer, ver, beber, experimentar y leer en Bristol y Pamplona.

No hemos dormido mucho este 2017 porque Aiden Victor nació en enero…asi que tuvimos tiempo para ver Netflix y escuchar audio libros entre biberones.

1.Book

The power of now (2009) 

Yes, I’m late but…OMG  what an amazing book. Spiritual and very easy to read. The primary principle in the book revolves around the concept of being fully present,  in other words, living in the NOW. If you are into meditation or you want to start meditation, this is your book.

“The mind is a superb instrument if used correctly. Used in the wrong way, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately … you usually don’t use it at all. It uses you”

Llego tarde pero…ay madre que libro tan increíble. Espiritual y fácil de leer. El principio básico del libro es el concepto de estar completamente presente, en otras palabras, vivir el ahora. Si te va la meditación o quieres empezar, es tu libro.

2. App

The wonder weeks. 

An app and also a book. Fascinating. it’s been key to understand Aiden’s development ‘leaps’, his ‘fussy’ phases and growth spurts.

Es una aplicación y también un libro. Fascinante. Ha sido clave para entre el desarrollo de Aiden, fases complicadillas, estirones (también mentales)

Respecto al podcast. me encanta el sentido del humor absurdo de estos dos humoristas catalanes. Ademas el acento catalán es muy bueno para los estudiantes 🙂 

3. Café

4. Experiences (difficult to choose, there are much more!)

-Is it too obvious to mention Aiden’s birth? With Adam by my side and David Bowie’s music in the background? (St. Michaels Hospital.)

Es demasiado obvio mencionar el nacimiento de Aiden? Adam a mi lado y la música de David Bowie de fondo (en un hospital inglés, claro…)

–Flying 10 times with Aiden on Easyjet. Despite the challenging baby changing facilities (you parents out there who fly will know…) the cabin crew are always amazing. And Aiden is the best passenger, either sleeping or giggling with other passengers!

Volar 10 veces con mi bebé Aiden en Easyjet. A pesar del cambiador de bebés que es justito (los padres viajeros saben a qué me refiero) la tripulación es siempre genial. Y Aiden es el mejor pasajero, durmiendo y riéndose con los demás 🙂

Ready to fly when he was 6 weeks old:

-My sister and nephew visiting us in Bristol. We laugh 24|7 ! We also saw the animals at Longleat safari park where a bunch of monkeys jumped on our car. My husbands’s face: priceless as it was a new car…

Mi hermana y sobrino vinieron a vernos a Birstol. Estuvimos todo el dia de risas. Tambien vimos animales en Longleat Safari park y un grupo de monetes saltaron sobre nuestro coche. Ver la cara de mi marido no tuvo precio.

-One of my best friends, Marta, came to visit us in Bristol with hubby and toddler. Lush ❤

Una de mis mejores amigas, Marta, vino también a Bristol con su marido y nene. Genial ❤ 

–Plymouth. What a chilled, sunny and fun weekend. Nothing special, just the 3 us 🙂

Plymouth…qué finde tan relajado, soleado y divertido. No hicimos nada especial, sólo estar nosotros 3 . Fue todo un hallazgo…:)

-Seeing the 3 kings (or Wise men) in Pamplona, from my friend Elsa’s balcony, in the old part of Pamplona 🙂

–Mums. Lots of lovely mums on the same journey. I’ve met fabulous women and their babies in the last 12 months.  Have you read my Baby friendly Bristol post?

5. Restaurant

Nathan Outlaw owns a restaurant in Port Isaac, in Cornwall. OMG, the tasting menu was delicious, we had sea food and Spanish wine in a cosy corner of the restaurant… were Aiden laughed and flirted with the waitress 🙂

7. Music

Lullabies. No, wait! They aren’t boring or cheesy. There are versions out there of artists I love, like David Bowie, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Guns and Roses…

10. Naughty indulgences. More than 1.

From Bristol: Lightly salted Kettle crisps and, of course, the stinky British cheese. “God save the Queen” 🙂

From Pamplona: Chocolate Valor to make hot cocoa. Thick. Very Spanish. The cocoa here is too runny for me haha!

And, of course, “my dad’s coffee” the brand, in reality, is just Cafenasa. Love that smell ❤

Sag aloo de mi restaurante indio favorito en Bristol, Raj Pavillions.

De Pamplona: Chocolate Valor para hacer a la taza, espeso, muy tipico y no como en Inglaterra que lo toman demasiado liquido para mí, jaja!

Y por supuesto el “café de mi padre”, la marca es normal, Cafenasa. Me encanta ese olor ❤
